Olá apaixonados, faz algum tempo que comprei uma Orquídea Negra, a famosa Maxillaria shunkeana, endêmica das matas do estado do Espirito Santo, Brasil.
![mapa espirito santo](https://orquideasfascinantes.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/mapa-espirito-santo.jpg?w=705)

English version
Hello folks, some time ago I bought a Black Orchid, the famous Maxillaria shunkeana, endemic to the forests state of Espirito Santo, Brazil.
Unfortunately the Atlantic forest is nearly extinct because of deforestation, so these orchids are in great danger in their natural habitat.
This is a species of Maxillaria we moved to Brasiliorchis in 2007, when the genre was revised by Rodrigo Singer and other authors who secreted most species of Maxillaria to 16 other pre-existing genres or news. Brasiliorchis is one of those genres, with more than 13 representatives occurring in Brazil, some of them endemic.
This little plant does not like direct light and not constant manipulation because as other orchids, is stressed with these frequent changes. Has a small flower, the color is dark red. Like a good relative humidity, so it is recommended to grow it in sphagnum (moss).
Small plant 10-15 cm, cylindrical pseudobulbs fusiformes- base with 2 erect linear leaves.
Flowers 1 cm, individual, red-dark purple with red anther (a show) born at the base of mature pseudobulbs in the spring / summer.
The Maxillaria shunkeana has the gift of being the thermometer orchid because it is many time s for her you realize that something is out of place, like light, fertilization, irrigation and pest.
A good crop ensures flowery frequent your Maxillaria, so good lock !!!!
