Ornithophora radicans
Saudações orquidófilas a todos os amigos do Brasil e do mundo que visitam meu blog. Hoje aproveitando a tarde chuvosa de Ribeirão Preto, quero dividir com vocês a forma que ando cultivando a brasileiríssima Ornithophora radicans que adquiri do Orquidário Colibrí.
Quando a comprei, em 2015, a fixei em um coqueiro, amarrado com um pouco de sfagno e regando 4 vezes por semana (Ribeirão Preto é muito quente!). Venho aplicando uma mistura de micronutrientes, manutenção, e enraizador, tudo em doses bem homeopáticas e regando minhas plantas com esta mistura a cada 15 dias. Com o tempo suas raízes foram se espalhando e se fixando no coqueiro. Este ano por fim ela floresceu e pude conferir suas delicadas flores. Depois da florada vou dividi-la para foram uma nova muda . Percebi que ela vai muito bem em vasos, quem já a cultiva percebe que com o tempo vai se formando uma toiceira bem cheia de folhas, bulbos e belas flores e talvez por isso não sei se foi uma boa escolha plantá-la em coqueiro, devido sua base lisa, a plantinha não enraizou fortemente, embora esteja presa, por que também solta muitas raízes aéreas.
Para quem esta começando se aventurar no cultivo de orquídeas, ela é ideal, pois sua manutenção é fácil. A planta tem um poder bem grande de crescimento e muitas vezes lembram até capim. Seus bulbos são numerosos, suas folhas alongadas e finas, as raízes são aéreas e finas também. A planta, epífita, gosta de umidade e meia luz. Florescem no verão e apresenta miniflores de aproximadamente 1 cm. O nome do gênero refere-se ao formato de passarinho em pleno voo que suas flores têm, quando vistas de perfil.
A Ornithophora radicans é brasileira, vive na Mata Atlântica entre o Sudeste até os estados do sul do Brasil. Algumas vezes já mencionei a Mata Atlântica neste blog e gosta sempre de falar, pois é um bioma extremamente rico em biodiversidade. A Mata Atlântica encontra-se no litoral brasileiro, estendendo-se desde o Rio Grande do Norte até o Rio Grande do Sul.

I noticed that it goes very well in pots, those who already cultivate it realize that over time there is forming a noice well full of leaves, bulbs and beautiful flowers and maybe for that reason I do not know if it was a good choice to plant it in coconut tree, due to Its smooth base, the plant does not take root strongly, although it is attached, because it also releases many aerial roots.
For those who are starting to venture into the cultivation of orchids, it is ideal because its maintenance is easy. The plant has a very great power of growth and often resembles grass. Its bulbs are numerous; its leaves elongated and thin, the roots are aerial and thin as well. The plant, epiphyte, likes moisture and half light. They bloom in summer and feature miniflores of about 1 cm. The name of the genus refers to the shape of the bird in flight that its flowers have when viewed in profile.
Ornithophora radicans is Brazilian, lives in the Atlantic Forest between the Southeast and the states of southern Brazil. I have sometimes mentioned the Atlantic Forest in this blog and always like to speak because it is a biome extremely rich in biodiversity.
